Oxford & Beyond

Team Orchid headed to Oxford to find you the best ideas for a great time!

From the rustic punt boats bobbing on the Thames to the towering spires of the historical establishments, Oxford is truly a treat for any visitor. Team Orchid had to pay a visit to get an education in how much excitement can be had in this quaint and lively city. Here is our list of the must do’s for the perfect Oxford Hen Do, Birthday or Girls Weekend:

Get exactly what you want at John Lewis –  https://www.johnlewis.com/our-shops/oxford

We had a shopping experience like no other with our group seated on plush sofas, prosecco in hand, tasty cakes and a personal stylist showing us the latest and greatest trends in fashion. We passed around silk French lace and cashmere, falling in love with the quality garments. Beforehand each person will take a survey detailing their current fashion and goals for their style. During your session they will offer different options to try and advise on what is perfectly flattering for you. Perfect for the fashionistas and the hopelessly unsophisticated alike!

Bottomless Brunch at Dirty Bones – https://dirty-bones.com/locations/oxford

After moseying around John Lewis and the shops at the gorgeous Westgate Centre, head up to the top for some reprieve at Dirty Bones. Contrary to the name, this restaurant serves excellent handcrafted cocktails in a modern and moody setting on the roof Terrace. Yummy brunch dishes served with bottomless cocktails, it’s a vibe we are so down for! Also recommended for an evening meal or simply for a damn good drink.

Whiskey and Maple Syrup make a delicious combination!

A Private Bus Tour of the City –

If you have a big group, you are going to need a big bus! We hopped aboard the Oxford City Sightseeing bus to tour the sites and ride around with the top down. No better way to see and learn about the incredible history than with an informative and funny guide on a big red bus!

Catch some rays on the top deck!

Be chauffeured along the river –

Nothing better than sitting back on a boat enjoying the sun with friends along the river. Float past the stunning college backs and meadows where famed intellectuals such as Lewis Carol spent their days (so you can say you did something cultured while on your weekend away!) while sipping a crisp glass of champagne, *ah*. Complete the afternoon with a picnic provided or afternoon tea to follow!

Ghost Hunting at Oxford Castle and Prison –

Did you know that the castle in central Oxford was a prison up until 1996?! Insane right! So for all the fans of anything spooky it is definitely a neat experience with some bone chilling anecdotes! Take is a step further and create an Escape Room experience for your group in the 1000-year-old castle and prison for the ultimate hair-raising encounter!

Get competitive at Junkyard Golf – https://www.junkyardgolfclub.co.uk/oxford/

It’s all fun and games – and food and drink! – at Junkyard golf. With 3 mini golf courses, signature cocktails and music to have you bopping your head in your funky visor, it is nonstop entertainment! We played in 2 teams of 6 people in a friendly but cutthroat rivalry and had an absolute blast. Great way to start or end your evening.

Day or night this place is buzzing!

Boogey Nights at The Varsity Clubhttps://tvcoxford.co.uk/

Oxford’s ultimate rooftop terrace and place shake your tail feathers! This multi level bar is great for a mixed age group (over 21+ on Saturday’s) with old school tunes and latest hits. Team Orchid would go every weekend if we could and dance the night away over looking the magical city.
